I’ve visited Italy many times, and know my drivers and guides very well.
In Tuscany, there are endless opportunities for culinary experiences and outdoor activities alike.
South of Rome is Puglia, an area rich in culture, with fabulous wineries and sights. As a luxury travel advisor, I believe this was an unbelievably beautiful trip, with my guide seeing many of the historic cities like Lecce and Matera. In this area, a private guide is highly recommended.
As an art historian, my guide has helped me delve deep into Italy’s culture, and I always leave with a much greater grasp of the country's history. In addition, by working directly with him during my own travels, I learned first-hand how he would treat my clients.
Of course, there are many ways to experience a new destination. Some of my luxury clients prefer to have their own car rather than employ a driver. This is perfectly fine. There are also plenty of hiking and biking excursions, particularly in Tuscany.
Many clients have taken part in extraordinary cooking experiences in Florence.
For those interested in Jewish history, a visit to Pitigliano, or Little Jerusalem, is a historic experience, as this is where Jewish people were forced to live during World War II. The Synagogues there are stunning and untouched from the 1900's or earlier.
