Most first-time clients are surprised at the types of things I can make arrange during their travels. For example, if you are interested in food, I may arrange for you to take a private cooking class, which will start with you shopping at the local market. If you are an art-lover, you might enjoy having a local art professor guide you through a museum. I have also arranged for private guided tours, such as bicycle tours and guided food and wine tastings. Using my knowledge to help others enjoy new experiences in new destinations is my biggest passion. When I plan your trip, I put my lifetime of experience to work for you.
When working with a new client, I will discuss where you have traveled, and what about those destinations did you love as well as what you didn’t, which will give me an idea of how you like to travel. Then we can dive into what your bucket list items are, so I can be sure to help you check those off.
I believe private guides are one the best ways to get the most out of your trip. I recently sent a multi-generational family to Japan, which is known to have a very rich culture. There is so much to learn, which can be overwhelming to many. How is one to know that those white pieces of paper strung around the temple are wishes, or that each movement in the tea ceremony ritual has a specific symbolic meaning? The family still talks about how great their guide was, how much they learned, and how they gained so much respect for the Japanese people.
Small-ship and river cruising is also something I find clients often enjoy. In recent years, ships have been adding more active options, both onboard and in port, making them more appealing to a wider age range. These ships differ from large ships in that they tend to focus on the destinations they visit and offer an intimacy that is both sophisticated and friendly. Cruising makes it easy to explore relatively inaccessible areas like the Norwegian fjords, or Alaska’s Inside Passage and Glacier Bay. You also are able to visit many places in a single trip without the hassle of taking trains, planes, and changing hotels. As your travel agent, I will ensure that you experience the style of travel you most enjoy. Some lines offer on board yoga and fitness classes and offer active adventures ashore, while others tend to attract a more sedentary crowd. There are also special sailings that cater to specific interests. I recently sent a group on a cruise where there were golfing excursions in almost every port.
Recently I have begun to notice that more travelers headed for adventurous destinations such as Patagonia, New Zealand, and even Antarctica. In addition to my experience and knowledge of the travel industry, one of my most important traits is my attention to detail. From the moment you leave your home to when you return, every step of your trip has been thought through thoroughly, and I make sure the arrangements are set. As your travel agent, I am there to back you up every step of the way!
