Two of the best places I recommend are Peru and Chilean Patagonia. I have been to both myself and can arrange seamless unique and memorable itineraries to both destinations.
PERU
A perfect trip to Peru requires careful advanced planning and expert advice to avoid tourist traps and experience the wonders of this amazing country. I fly my clients into Lima and then to the Sacred Valley by plane or aboard the stunning Belmond Andean Explorer luxury train. Among my favorite hotels where my insider contacts can secure VIP amenities are the beautiful Sol Y Luna (the butterflies!), Explora Sacred Valley and the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge and all the other beautiful Belmond properties in Peru.
Macchu Pichu: Visit the oldest continuously inhabited city of the Americas and Cusco, the former capital of the Inca empire. For an image that will remain locked in your heart for all time, watch the sun rise from the top of Machu Picchu.
The Inca Trail: I book my clients far in advance and procure the correct permits. Treks vary from 3 to 7 days and I do not recommend this amazing experience for young children.
Lake Titicaca: For a unique insight into an alternative culture, see the floating villages of the Uros on the world’s highest lake.
Insider tip: To take part in the most important festival in the Inca calendar, visit during the summer solstice for Inti Raymi in Sacsayhuaman on June 24.
PATAGONIA, CHILE
Many people only think of Argentina when they think Patagonia. But the Chilean side is much less touristy. The crysal blue lakes and starry skies of the Torre del Pines National Park, where the views are heavenly. I also send clients to Chiloé Island on the northwest coast, where blue whales and Humboldt penguins gather.
