Jose Catalan

I love to travel, something I have been doing since I was six years old, when my family sent me from Havana to Miami to visit my aunt and uncle. Since then I have had the opportunity to visit more than 100 countries, from Argentina to Australia and from Cuba to Cambodia.

I’m particularly familiar with Spain, where for many years I have had a second home with my partner, Lance Wilson, who is also a Protravel advisor. It’s in the charming whitewashed village of Sitges, south of Barcelona, and offers unobstructed views of the Mediterranean. Another one of my specialties is cruising, which I love because it offers a comfortable way to travel to multiple places without having to pack and unpack. I also think it’s a great value, when you consider everything that’s included.

One of my greatest travel memories is flying at twice the speed of sound aboard the Concorde. I have lived in Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. I went to hotel school in Lausanne, Switzerland, and have a degree in journalism from Arizona State University. Before becoming a travel agent, I managed hotels in Puerto Rico and Arizona.
