I love planning honeymoons, anniversary trips, and destination weddings. I know from my own how important and joyous they are and I like making couples happy. Often, they give me a budget, I find out what they like, and I present them with a proposal. After all the stress of planning a wedding, it’s great to make the honeymoon stress free.
I take lots of familiarization trips, especially in the Caribbean, so I know the resorts first hand. The Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall in Jamaica is great for couples looking for an adult-only resort with all-inclusive pricing. It’s got lagoon-like pools and spacious rooms, many with swim-up access to a private pool and private butler service, a lovely beach with beach butlers, and a pretty gazebo where you can have a private seaside dinner.
For a true hideaway experience, the remote island of Canouan, a small island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is home to the five-star Mandarin Oriental, Canouan. With just 26 suites and seven villas set on 20 lushly-landscaped acres, it provides butler service, a gloriously tranquil beach sheltered by a coral reef and even a Jim Fazio-designed golf course.
Right now, I’m in the midst of booking a 50th wedding anniversary trip book to my personal favorite, Il San Pietro di Positano, a Relais & Chateau property on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. I stayed there 20 years ago and have beautiful memories. It feels like it’s carved into the cliff, with terraces look out at the breathtaking coastline.
