My years of experience in building complex itineraries for corporate travelers before the days of computers taught me to find the most cost-effective air routings, and often I create fare savings based on routings that the computers—and most travel agents--do not know how to find. These can provide savings of thousands of dollars that are appreciated by both corporate and leisure travelers. 

Sometimes, finding the best fare requires being on top of the latest promotions. For example, I arranged a family gathering in France and saved them about $1,100 per person on their flights—less than half the fares they were finding on Kayak and Expedia--by routing them through London, where a fare war was happening. The online agencies and airlines never give you those options.
